I grew up in a two parent household to an amazing set of parents. I was an only child for 9 years...and then there were two! My father was a college basketball player and middle school P.E. teacher and JV basketball coach. So naturally, I wanted to 'be like my daddy" and got involved in dance and sports at the age of 4 or 5. I grew up with a passion for dance (hip-hop mainly even though I can't dance a lick, I got rhythm tho) and basketball.
Alongside sports, creativity use to be one of the front-runners of who I am but as the years have come and gone, as my body has aged and as my brain matter fades, I have realized it is much much harder for me to allow my creativity to blossom. I use to love writing poetry, arts and crafts and all things creative. As I grew older, I dabbled in graphic design and later started doing graphic design as a side hustle. I am now a 33 year old, single black mother to an amazingly funny, loving, always giving out kisses, 4 year old daughter. I am and always have been in some way affiliated with sports and fitness, until 4 years ago B.R. (Before Raelyn) was born. I was never a street runner or a club goer, but I had my share of activities and fun times. Now that I am a single mother, I have become that "boring black girl" I never wanted to be.
Follow me as I journal my obstacles of daily living and about becoming that "boring black girl", juggling motherhood, single-hood, a full-time job, weight gain, and finding my TRUE inner happiness.
From one BBG to another, I'm going to follow you on your journey that may help me to find my inner happiness!!!!!
